The first route that the Tapeworm can take to reach the definitive host is when an intermediate host ingests Tapeworm eggs. Generally Tapeworms cause more discomfort to the intermediate host rather than the definitive host. A heavy infestation of dog Tapeworm may cause intestinal blockage but this occurs only in rare cases. Infection caused by eating an infected intermediate host is difficult to diagnose as the segments are small and difficult to notice. Read More
